Taking your history
We will take an extensive history. Some of the topics we will discuss include:
- A detailed description of your pain
- How you got injured (assuming there was a specific cause of injury—which there often isn’t!)
- Whether or not you have had this pain before and how it was managed
- Other conditions you have that may contribute to your pain
- How your pain affects your daily life
- What your treatment goals are
Exam
Based upon your history, we will assess and test the following:
- Postural alignment
- Muscle strength and reflexes
- Numbness, tingling, and pain patterns
- How certain movements increase or decrease pain
X-ray
If necessary, we will take an x-ray of your spine. Mission Chiropractic Works is equipped with on site digital x-ray. Spinal x-rays allow us to actually see your spine. This is important because the images allow us to:
- Rule out possible diseases that may be affecting your spine
- Assess the health of your bones, joints, and disc space
- See any structural abnormalities that may be contributing to your pain
- Objectively quantify any alignment issues you may have
Diagnosis
Based upon your history, exam findings, x-rays, and other diagnostic reports, you will be given a specific diagnosis. This diagnosis will form the framework for treatment.
Treatment
At a minimum, treatment will consist of chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work. Depending on the complexity of your condition—as well as your treatment goals—we may also utilize decompression, postural reeducation, and rehabilitation.
